I have been teaching tap dance all over the country and the world for the past 15 years, and noticed that there were really no "cool" items of clothing out there for "hoofers."

As a Tap Dancer, I always wondered why there are plenty of cool Dance Clothes but not more Tap Dance themed clothing and accessories: A cool Shoe Bag with a separate zippered pocket to put my Tap Shoes in, cool and comfortable sweatpants that didn't cover my Tap Shoes. Comfortable Dance Clothes I could wear with pride to show that I am proud to be a Tap dancer...So I decided that I would do something about it...

After I started hearing my students using the phrases and sayings I employ in class to help them, I realized that I was on to something and that I should combine the 2 ideas: a cool shirt/clothing line using those sayings. I have always liked the look of college crests and that's when we came up with the idea of Tap University, to create a completely unique line of clothing.

Now, in order to make it official we needed some sort of Latin phrase. Lo and behold, that's when "Invenio Unus" was born. Roughly translated it meant "Find The One" — or "find the COUNT of 1" — a very important theory for tap dancers!

We also knew that we wanted to reach a wide-ranging audience - not just tap dancers - so we have some items with absolutely no reference to tap dance at all. "Lighten up and listen", " "Find the one", "Take your time, as long as you get there" are all phrases with as many meanings as there are imaginations...

We have many more ideas, styles and phrases to come, including a whole line for the baby boomer in all of us! So keep watching for our new, exciting, fun and — of course —COOL items . . .
